Bon Appetit!

Secured in her high chair and ready for a new chapter in her life, Katelyn began the adventure of solid foods last week. We started her on rice cereal to get her used to pushing the food back in her mouth to swallow it. This was her very first taste of something other than milk. She wasn't sure what to think at first and a lot of it ended up on her bib.

She started to enjoy it after a few bites really liked grabbing the spoon - Miss Independent already! 

Toward the end, she was having a great time and full of smiles. We're not really sure how much food she actually ate, but it was a good introduction to the wild world of solid foods!

Here are photos from day two - she's getting the hang of it! It may have been a coincidence, but Katelyn actually started smacking her lips together when we put her in the high chair on day two. She's done it a few times since then, so we think she's making the association between the chair and food. 

The bowl is always a major temptation - she would love to get her paws on it, but we're not quite ready for that mess just yet.

Yesterday she tried mashed up banana, but didn't seem to care for it. I'm not sure if the flavor or the texture turned her off, but we'll try it again to today. As of now, she's just having solids once a day at dinnertime as that's what works best with our schedule on the weekends and weekdays. 

Katelyn has always been a good eater and we're guessing that will continue as her personal menu expands. Tasty tasty!
