Oops! I forgot to include Kendall's 2-year stats in my last birthday post, so I'll make note of them here. She checked out great at the doctor and is growing long and lean!

Before we bid farewell to summer, we'd be short-changing ourselves to not at least attempt a recap of all the fun we had the last few months. So, hold onto your hats, here we go!
Does it get any more summer-like than this?! Friends, fun, and slippery slides! Katelyn and Abby had a great time sliding and splashing into Abby's jumbo pool one afternoon. Even Kendall had a few runs on it!
Katelyn attended three different Vacation Bible Schools this summer (!) and she would've done more but we didn't want to be too scheduled. It is summer, after all! While she was busy at one, Kendall and I had some play dates with littler friends. One of which was with her buddy Carter. Here they are talking about crackers and Prom 2027. Hee-hee!!
Off came the training wheels for Kate this summer, but after several days of practice, she preferred them to be put back on again. It was a great introduction to balancing on a bike, but perhaps next summer they'll stay off :)
Parks, parks, and more parks! We are so fortunate to have an abundance of nearby parks to choose from and we hit them all up this summer more than once.
There's nothing quite like big sister teaching little sister about the finer things in life... "You have to find the ones with lots of feathers!" - Katelyn, age 4
Katelyn was really into the monkey bars this summer and the smaller versions allowed her to make it all the way across. The larger versions consisted mostly of swinging, dangling, and calling for a rescue!
We have a great park nearby that I bike to with the girls in the Burley. Once we tried this long slide with pieces of waxed paper under our bottoms... and you better believe we always remember to bring it ever since! It makes it really zippy!
Every Thursday in Maple Grove there was a "kids koncert" with live music, activities, and dancing. We made it several times over the course of the summer and usually packed a picnic lunch to enjoy along the water afterwards. We definitely milked these summer days and were outside for the majority of the day when it was nice out.
Outside all except for nap time and quiet time, that is... :)
The girls were chosen to be "Kids of the Month" at our YMCA for the month of July. We brought in a picture and filled out a little questionnaire about their favorite things to be featured on the door of the Kids Stuff (child care) area.
As a perk for being "Kids of the Month" the girls got to attend (for FREE) a special event at the Y where childcare is provided for 4 hours as well as dinner for the kids and fun activities. Meanwhile, we enjoyed a lovely Parents Night Out. We went out for drinks and sushi at an outdoor patio. A definite win-win!
This what the kids looked like when we picked them up. Let's see... colored hair, glitter tattoos, and beautiful face paint! We still aren't sure who had more fun, the kids or the parents :) We love our YMCA!
The girls have both been growing like weeds! So new shoes were in order for the end of summer/start of the school year. Two pairs of Sketchers - one with veclro and one with "real, actual ties" (according to Katelyn :)
Oh, how these two sweeties light up our lives! We appreciated the sometimes lazy, laid-back summer mornings when we didn't have to be out the door by a certain time and the pj's stayed on until mid-morning.
Michael and I had a fun double-date night with our dear friends Matt and Shelly, who are moving to Denver this fall. We have shared countless wonderful memories with these two and will miss them SO much!
And this is what happens when mom and dad stay out past 11pm... ha ha!
Towards the end of the summer, we got a brochure for ECFE class through Hopkins School District (which is what Kendall and I attended last year). I opened it up to check class times and well, hello! I recognized a sweet little face. Kendall's famous! ;)
With few to no scheduled activities besides play dates and VBS, we spent some time down time at home on the really hot and/or rainy days.
The girls played pretend a LOT (and still do). Many times they play doctor and patient, Elsa and Anna (from Frozen), store employee and shopper, mom and baby, post office, restaurant, and more. Here is Anna getting checked on by big sister Elsa :)
Not surprisingly, we did our share of dancing this summer. Dance party, dance party, always time for that!
We set up our baby pool at the bottom of the slide a few times for a makeshift water slide. It definitely elevated the fun factor!
We also logged some solid hours in the sand box mixing and making cakes and pies.
To round out the summer fun, the girls and I took a trip down to Ames to visit Gramma Kathy and Papa for a few days. We biked, walked, went swimming, played, and had a good time!
Katelyn loved this water slide at the aquatic park. I estimate she climbed up and slid down 674 times :)
We had a wonderful summer full of good times and great memories. Our hearts are full with all the experiences and people that blessed our summer months!
