You know those weekends that are so fun-filled and busy that before ya know it, it's Sunday night?! We enjoyed one of those weekends and had some very special visitors in town - two different sets of visitors in fact! Someone was especially happy about that...
But really quickly, I wanted to share Katelyn's 18-month stats:
Height: 33" (75-90%)
Weight: 24 lbs. 12 oz. (50%)
Head circumference: 18 1/2" (75-90%)
Her check-up was on Friday and she did surprisingly well considering it included a finger prick, a flu shot, and a Hepatitis vaccine. Last November, it was discovered that she has slightly low hemoglobin levels. They re-checked that and it's still a bit low, so she'll will be taking an iron supplement and we'll try our best to incorporate high iron foods in her diet. The list of recommended high iron foods started off with this: "Red meats, liver, and other organ meats" - I don't know about you, but those aren't exactly things I'd like to increase in our family's menu selections! I'm pretty sure if Katelyn sometimes declines pizza, then "liver and other organ meats" might as well stay in the freezer! I think we'll start with eggs, beans, and raisins, all of which we already know she likes.
On Saturday, my brother Mitch and his girlfriend Hayley came to town for a wedding in St. Paul. Katelyn loved saying their names "Meesch" and "Hay-ee" as we told her they were coming for a weekend visit. She was a little shy in the car with Mitch and kept putting her fists to her eyes - Mitch thought he'd join in...
We had lunch outside in St. Paul before Mitch and Hayley got geared up for the wedding. Katelyn kept flashing fish lips, which is why Hayley is encouraging it in this picture. As a second grade teacher, she knows as well as anyone how to get a reaction out of kids :)
Katelyn thinks that if she has two hands to hold, she can swing all she wants! To the point where she'll just collapse down on her legs so that the hand-holders will lift her up!

It took all of 30 seconds for Katelyn to zonk out on the drive back home (how 'bout those lips?!)...
On Sunday, Mitch and Hayley came back to spend the day and night with us. Yay!

It was a beautiful day, so we all took a stroll around the neighborhood. Below are the Missy and Michael fill-ins ;) If Mitchell was lagging behind during the walk and Katelyn couldn't see him, she'd say "Meesch? Meesch?" wondering where he was. She appreciates knowing where everyone is at all times :)

Mitchell and Hayley went back to Chicago on Monday morning (sad face) and Katelyn continued to wonder where Meesch was throughout the day until she'd remember that we said bye-bye to him and Hayley at which point she'd say, "buh-bye, Meesch."
Our next round of special visitors stopped by on Monday afternoon... (stay tuned - how's that for a cliffhanger? ;)

Katelyn, you are a little girl of many faces!! I love your smiles and "fish faces"! It looks like you had the best fun with Meesch and Hayley!! And...I think this is the first time I've seen your teeth when you smiled! You're such a cutey!
