We had such a fun week last week! My mom was in town for a conference for work and my dad came along for the ride (ahh, what fun to be retired!), so we spent lots of time with them. It was a special treat to see them during the week since we're used to weekend visits.
On Monday, my dad came over and spent the day with us. I'm not sure I even remember the last time I spent an entire day with just my dad, which made me appreciate this day even more. Papa and his girls! We spent time at the park, playing outside, grabbing a bite for lunch, and even having ice cream (our ploy of giving Katelyn yogurt instead of Culver's custard worked like a charm until my dad caved and gave her a taste of his blueberry sundae! It was love at first bite.)
Katelyn definitely got used to seeing Papa. Every morning and after every nap, she'd say "Papa? Papa?" with her palms up wondering where he was.
Wait, you mean it's not normal to get the morning paper with just a bib and pajama shorts on? Ha, ha!
Friday morning, we went to a new-to-us park a couple miles from our house. Lots of fun playing with Gramma on the swings and slides!
It was such a nice day that we decided to head to Lake Minnetonka for lunch. We were right on the water and the fresh air felt great. Katelyn was especially enthralled with the ducks swimming right by our table.
Strollin' on the dock, holdin' hands...
Katelyn has been so generous with her hugs and kisses lately! It's the best! She loves wrapping both arms around and sometimes even squeezing the lucky recipient's cheeks with her hands - perhaps we've done that to her a few too many times!
Mmmuuuah!
On Friday afternoon, Michael got off work early and we all went to another park to play. This particular one is in Maple Grove right by the swimming pond that we like to visit. It's a really great park with tons of non-traditional equipment and activities (digging for dinosaur bones in the sandbox, group swings, spinning climbing contraptions, huge slides, and more).
Swinging in the hammock with Daddy...
These swings are designed for multiple people, so it's fun to swing with Katelyn. I think we saw 6 kids piled on one of the other ones!
Our local Tour de Parks continued on Saturday morning. Katelyn loves going to parks and since one of our favorites is situated right near the Plymouth water tower, whenever she sees a water tower out of the car window she says "park! park!" Katelyn was fearless on the merry-go-round with Gramma as she started walking around while it was spinning - yikes!
Katelyn surprised me with this grin when I asked her if she could smile for the camera... I'm telling you, this girl is such a character!
We strategically timed Gramma and Papa's departure during Katelyn's nap. Otherwise, the goodbye is too sad for her (and probably for my parents too!) Thanks for a wonderful visit and for all the love you show Katelyn. She's a lucky little lady!

Missy, the pleasure is all ours!! We are so thankful to be able to be an active part of Katelyn's life. She's such a joy!
I love the park! Looks like so much fun!
Katelyn, what precious fun you have with your Papa and Gramma!! I know they enjoy every moment spent with you! Maybe I can get one of your BIG hugs when we see you in a couple of weeks!
