Hello friends and family! Whew. I am sitting down to start this post and am feeling torn between unpacking more boxes, doing laundry, Swiffering the floors, or finally getting a blog post in. I know the options are making you envious, aren't they?! Well, the blog sounds the most appealing so here goes!
Last weekend, we uprooted from Maple Grove, our home city for the last 5 1/2 years, and moved 10 miles southeast to the city of Plymouth. We are really enjoying settling into our...
... and spending lots of time making it our home. The move went well (despite the rain we encountered most of the day), but we couldn't have done it without Colonel Katelyn and Major Malone running the show :) Actually, in all seriousness, Michael was an awesome project manager for the move. He and my dad did a lot of heavy lifting (along with some movers) and also made countless trips from one house to the other.
The operation took pretty much all day on Saturday (7 am - 10:30 pm when we finally had our town house cleaned and ready for the renters to move in first thing on Sunday.) Being that we had plenty to do and I didn't even know where my purse was let alone my beloved camera, we didn't take any photos of the actual move. Except for this one ;)
Katelyn kept us entertained much of the time. My dad and Michael both had baseball caps on during the move and she kept pointing to her head and saying "at!" whenever she saw them. She did the same when my dad put his glasses on, only she said, "eyes!" and pointed to her eyes. She was also fascinated by the moving truck "kuck" or "caw" and every time it pulled up she would point at it and say "dada?" (since he would re-appear whenever the truck arrived again). Here's a visual of the "hat" comment (which happened probably 100 times throughout the weekend :)
Katelyn trying to make her way through all the boxes. Box is another word she says now. (I guess that's what happens when you're surrounded by them for a month straight!)
On day 2 in the new house, we had a little furry visitor...
Katelyn loved looking at the kitty (we have since discovered this is our neighbor's cat, Boots, who for some reason loves our deck and visits frequently :) She kept pointing and saying "maow." Malone let out a little bark and then just stared at the cat while wagging his tail. Perhaps he thought he was being reunited with Kirby after 3 1/2 years!
Along with meeting the furry neighborhood friends, Katelyn has also been enjoying the new backyard play set. She likes to look at it through the window and say, "weee" or "side" which may mean either outside or slide. Unexpectedly, the landscaping rocks under the deck actually rival the play set on the excitement-o-meter (at least for now!)
With the space we've acquired, we've got room for visitors, so start planning your trip to Plymouth - we'd love to have you! Wishing you all a great weekend!

So glad you're all moved and getting settled in!! Katelyn, that looks like an awesome playset in your yard! Campbell was quite intrigued with the rocks under our deck last year. She'd pick them up and carefully line them up in a row! great fun!! Maybe we'll come up and see you this summer when your Gramma and Grandpa come to visit you! It's been TOO long since we've seen you!
Katelyn, I'm so glad you're adjusting to your new home and meeting the neighborhood pets! Papa and I are looking forward to playing with you on your backyard playset soon! P.S. I think you have your mama and great gramma Ridnour's eyebrows! So cute!
Congrats on the big move! Make sure to take lots of pictures of the house! And I love the neighborhood cat! Before I read it was the neighbors I was going to tell you to take it in and adopt it! You will have to leave some snacks out for it :)
