Family Vacation - Honey Creek Resort

Backtracking with the blog a bit here, but over the weekend of June 11 - 13, Michael, Katelyn, and I made the trek to Southeastern Iowa for a family vacation at Honey Creek Resort. My entire immediate family was there: Mom and Dad; Ryan, Carly, and Jack; and Mitch and Hayley. It was a blast to say the least!

Quite a haul for us Minnesotans, we stopped in Ames at the halfway mark to break the trip up. Katelyn was a fabulous traveler and napped most of the time. Once we got there, it felt great to relax and unwind for a good 3 days. There's something very peaceful, yet enjoyable about middle-of-nowhere-Iowa - especially compared to the hustle and bustle of the metro. The cottages that we stayed in were built just last year, so they're very nice and had a kitchen, living room, dining room, 2 bedrooms, and 2 baths. We enjoyed some quality family time by way of walks, canoe rides, indoor pool fun, fishing, games, golfing, chatting, and relaxing. Katelyn loved hanging out with everyone and just fit right in to the fun!  So many great memories. We're thankful my parents planned it and hope to make it an annual tradition :)

Katelyn showing off her darling swimsuit from Uncle Jason and Aunt Cassie. Thanks, guys!!

"Iowa makes me smile!"

We had to battle some rain, but that's when the indoor water park came in handy!

Michael and Jack getting ready to go down the water slide (wish that bar could be lowered to see Jack's face!)

Having a heart-to-heart with Uncle Mitch.
