Halloween Festivities

Hope you had a great Halloween! Have you eaten enough fun size candy bars that they're not so fun anymore? I have. I know for a fact that I've eaten way more candy than Katelyn and technically it's hers! Naughty mommy. Just doing my part to keep our kids healthy. HA!

We had a blast celebrating and talking all about the holiday for the last couple weeks. Katelyn could hardly believe it was really Halloween by the time it rolled around! 

Our first event was a MOMS Club Halloween Party. Katelyn was at preschool, but Kendall and I attended. Our watermelon girl wasn't so sure about being in the photo, but we managed to squeeze her in there ;) And check out the chicken with rubber glove feet! So cute!

Last week for dance class the kids were able to wear their costumes - as long as they were able to dance in them. Well, Katelyn the mermaid wasn't very nimble in her slim-fitting costume, so we opted for Tinkerbell! Here's our little Tink before class, getting her groove on, and then with all of her classmates in their darling costumes :)

The next event was a costume carnival at Katelyn's preschool. It was put on by the church and had a huge turnout. The girls dressed in their costumes and played lots of carnival games. Their buckets had all kinds of toys and treats in them by the end of the night! 

And speaking of their light-up buckets, we had about 10 people comment about them and ask where we got them. They were a gift from my parents and they are great - there's an on/off switch on the bottom for the lights, they have glow in the dark stickers, and are obviously customized with their names. A great gift that will be used for many years ahead. Thanks, Gramma Kathy and Papa!

Halloween came with much anticipation and it did not disappoint. We had a Pinterest-inspired lunch with worms dipped in blood (hot dogs cut in thin strips with ketchup), goblin eyeballs (peas), clown noses (cherry tomatoes), and bone juice (milk). Katelyn continues to ask for bone juice - I guess that name stuck! 

The weather on Halloween night was chilly but not rainy, we dressed in layers, and an already thrilling trick-or-treat night was made even more special with these visitors...

It was so much fun to have Gramma Kathy and Papa here for the weekend. Katelyn was positively giddy with excitement when she found out they would be joining us for Halloween night!

We made our way around our cul-de-sac and Kendall was always eager to get right up to the door with Katelyn by her side... until the door was answered, then she'd scamper back to me or Michael and then slowly return to the door to collect her treat :) And have you ever seen a Minnesota mermaid? Winter coat, mittens, and a stocking hat complete the costume!

Katelyn and Michael continued their trick-or-treat quest throughout the neighborhood for a solid hour. Kate's bucket couldn't hold all the goodies, so Michael had to stash fistfuls in his coat pockets! As is tradition, Katelyn got to choose a couple treats to have upon returning home. Her first selection was the same as last year... a Tootsie Pop! The girl loves her lollipops!

The candy collectors conducted a thorough organizing effort after all their hard work.
