You know that very special kind of friendship that stands the test of time (for us, nearly 20 years) and distance (thousands of miles)? I realize it's a rare gift and I am lucky enough to experience that kind of friendship with these lovely ladies...
Heidi, Tiffany, and I have been dear friends since about middle school, through high school, through college, and now into our journey of motherhood to these beauties...
Spencer - almost 8 months old
Francesca "Frankie" - 7 months old
Katelyn and Kendall (2.5 years and 2.5 months)
All three of us had baby girls within 5 months of each other - what are the odds?! Not only were we (over) due to catch up in person post-babies, but we also each had a child to introduce to the clan as well!
The girls flew in to Minneapolis from Louisville, KY (Tiffany and Spencer) and Atlanta, GA (Heidi and Frankie) on Friday morning and stayed until Sunday morning. As you can imagine, we logged a lot of time in the play room. Kendall enjoyed laying on her activity mat, while Spencer and Frankie rolled and scooted their way around the room, and Katelyn helped the babies find fun toys. She also helped with diaper changes, baths, and putting on PJ's :)
Kendall loved her new friends too...
On Saturday, Heidi and I took Frankie and Kendall with us shopping while Tiff and Spencer visited another friend. The babies were great once we got out the door, but thank goodness we had our (handsome!) helper as we got ourselves showered, dressed, and our kids dressed and fed...
Michael was a champ with all seven (seven!) of us girls - what a trooper! He and Katelyn went to the zoo for the morning on Saturday. I think she was getting a little stir-crazy with all the babies, so a trip to the zoo was a great escape.
Almost miraculously, we got all four girls down for naps at the same time on Friday and 3 out of 4 on Saturday. These great sleepers also all crashed by 7:30 pm both nights which left us mamas with ample time to enjoy dinner, sip on wine, laugh, share stories, laugh, reminisce, sip on wine, and laugh.
A blast from the past! Here's a snapshot of our trio from senior year of high school in 1999 (top picture), college days in 2002 (second picture), in Marco Island for Heidi's bachelorette party in 2009 (third picture) and our "new mamas" 2012 picture...
Saturday afternoon called for a "controlled chaos photo shoot" ;) Tiff bought all four of the girls matching outfits, so out came the cameras! Simply irresistible.
Aren't the polka dots and bubble skirts fun? And those baby toes?! Oh my. You can't see it, but Katelyn has a tutu-style pink skirt on to match her polka dot leggings.
And tears were bound to make an appearance... poor Kendall was ready for a nap by this point. This is about where it all started to go downhill ;)
Well, all the kids are looking at the ground. When the hardwood floor is more exciting than a camera flash, it means we're done!
It was a wonderful weekend with amazing friends and beautiful babies. We are so very blessed. Blessed by rich memories. Blessed by healthy children. Blessed by incredible husbands. Blessed by enduring friendships. So fortunate and so thankful.
