The busyness-o-meter has spiked an all time high around here lately! Let me explain. Here's a peek at what we've been up to the last 14 days: Got approved for a home loan; Began house hunting; Prepared our town house to be listed for rent; Secured a renter; Trip to Atlanta (Missy); Two days later, trip to Orlando (Michael); Made an offer on a house; Back and forth negotiations on the house; Purchase agreement finalized! Oh yeah, and all of this while working, studying (Michael), and enjoying this little sweetie...
We are so thrilled (amazed, humbled, and grateful are other feelings that come to mind) about how things have transpired for us. After listing our town house for sale two different times in the past 3 years to no avail, entertaining many alternative situations such as house swaps/trades, and lots and lots of prayers, we reached the conclusion that we should continue to own our town house but rent it out so that we could buy another home with more space. Once we made that decision in February, things God moved very quickly!
We actually looked at this home on our very first day out and it continued to be a point of reference for us with all the subsequent homes we visited, which meant it encompassed a lot of the factors important to us. While the buyer's market was not at all helpful to us when our town home was for sale, it served us well in this endeavor. Silver lining at its best!
Some quick facts about our new house...
- Ample room for visitors 365 days a year!! Please plan your trip to visit us :)
- We close on April 29 and our renters move in May 1. Let the packing begin! (I say that with equal parts dread and excitement.)
- The house is located in Plymouth, MN on a cul-de-sac (just southeast of where we live in Maple Grove and about 10 minutes closer to both of our offices). Fun fact, it was recently named one of the Best Places to Live by Money Magazine (Plymouth is in good company with Ames, IA also being named to this list. Whoop whoop!)
- Built in 1993, it has 4 bedrooms (upstairs) + den/5th bedroom (in basement), 4 bathrooms
- Missy's favorite features: spacious kitchen, lots of natural light, and finally having space for a decent sized Christmas tree (goodbye $17, 4-footer that we've had for 5 years!)
- Michael's favorite features: deck, bar in the basement ;), and finally having space for a treadmill
- Katelyn's favorite features: play set in the backyard, her own bedroom (no more dual purpose nursery and guest room :), and space for more toys (naturally!)
- Malone's favorite features: spacious backyard (this guy will run more laps than the Indy 500!)
Living in our town house for as long as we have (going on 6 years; our original "plan" was 3 years - this quote comes to mind: "If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans!") gives us an even richer appreciation for the space and storage this house provides. We look forward to all that's in store as we turn our new house into our family's home.
"A house is made of walls and beams; a home is made of love and dreams."
