Last week, Katelyn became the new girl in school. We decided to switch daycares (not an easy decision, but one we're happy we made). Now that Katelyn is almost one, we are looking for more structure in terms of activities and curriculum and her new school offers those things. Plus, two of our friends take their children there and they love it.
Thankfully, Katelyn has transitioned very well - even the teachers have been impressed by her comfort level and overall disposition. {Knock on wood: There has not been a single tear at drop-off in the mornings so far. That includes both of us!} We think Katelyn's enjoying the new classmates, scenery, activities, and teachers. It was hard to say goodbye to the staff at her old daycare - especially when they made Katelyn a giant "We Will Miss You" card with all of their handprints and the tiny handprints of her little friends. But as Katelyn illustrates below, "gotta keep moving forward." :)
On her first day at the new school, we got an information sheet which included this:
My teachers are: Ms. Shari, Ms. Nina, and Ms. Heather
My first lunch was: Noodles, green beans, pears, yogurt, and water
My buddy today was: Vivienne - we played with the balls together (this made us smile :)
There's another Katelyn M. in her class - spelled the same and everything (what are the chances?!) So our Katelyn will be going by Kate at school (the teachers made sure this was okay with us, which of course it is.) It was cute to hear the teacher say, "Kate, look who's here!" when I picked her up last week :) We hope she continues to enjoy her new school. We have been impressed so far!

Kate, so glad to hear that you like your new school and are making new friends there. We loved seeing you this weekend, watching you walk with your "walker" and listening to you talk and squeal!
Katelyn, you look so adorable pushing your toy!! Did you know that we often call your Grandma Kathy, Aunt Kate?!! It only seems fitting to call you, Kate, too!!
