Kendall has had some exciting experiences lately. The week of her 2nd birthday earlier this month, she showed me firsthand just how independent she's getting. Remember, Kendall has always been our "cuddly clinger" as we affectionately call her. But apparently when she knew she was turning two, she decided to flex her independence in a big way!
She and Katelyn had dental appointments and although it was technically Kendall's second visit, it was leaps and bounds more "big girl" than her first (which involved lots of tears, even though she sat on my lap and pretty much just got her 8 teeth counted!) This time around, the hygienist told her she could just sit on mommy's lap again for the exam... but oh no, this hotshot wanted the big time in the big chair, just like her big sister! Kendall climbed right up there like nobody's business and got situated like an old pro. Shades - check. Hygienist's hand to hold - check. Mouth open - check. (Legs a mile long - check! Whoa.) Wha, wha, wha?!!? Is this actually our little Kendall?!? She's definitely growing up wether we're on board or not!
Later that very same week, I took the girls to the kids salon and Kendall got her first haircut. I wasn't sure how she would do, but just like at the dentist, her bravery tackled my doubts head-on! She did great as they cleaned up her rather stringy looking ends and gave her a new, big girl hair style!
It ended up being quite a bit shorter than I had expected, but still very cute if I do say so myself :)
It's stacked in the back like a real hair style. Makes her look even older than two!
And how about these two cheesers?!
As you can see, Katelyn hasn't changed much, but she trained Kendall well. HA!
Just love this duo and it's been so exciting to see Kendall gain some confident independence in recent weeks. Her 2nd birthday party will be up next - stay tuned!
