Happy 2013!! Hope you had fun saying goodbye to another year and hello to a brand new one. I realize the holidays were "so last year" ;) but we've got a lot of catching up to do. And with the Christmas spirit still alive and well in our hearts, here we go!
Santa visited our house early. We explained to Arthur the Elf that we would be in Iowa for Christmas day and asked him to see if Santa could stop by our house before we left on our trip. And he did! We woke up to gifts aplenty under the tree and in our stockings the Friday before Christmas.
If this picture doesn't sum up the excitement and thrill of Christmas through the eyes of a child, I'm not sure what does...
With every gift she opened, Katelyn would speculate about what could be inside. "Maybe it's... a guitar... or a bouncy ball?" (said about the gift above :)
Santa remembered our newest little lady too. Katelyn was such a great helper with Kendall's gifts. She opened her gifts and sweetly showed her and explained what the gift was: "Look at your cute new clothes, Kendo. This is a pink rattle for you, Kendo. Do you want to play wiff it?"
Whenever we asked Katelyn what she hoped Santa would bring her for Christmas, her response was always the same: "a farkly dress." He delivered... in skirt form.
I'm pretty sure this skirt has been worn on 12 of the last 14 days. And you know what sparkly clothes mean... dancing, of course. Lots and lots of dancing.
Along with the skirt, another favorite gift was Katelyn's Dora wrist watch. When asked what time it is, her response (after flipping her watch open to check) is always "seven o'clock." It's seven o'clock somewhere ;)
Our family also got a gift for all of us to share...
an Apple iPad!
Because it's pretty much a jumbo version of our iPhones, Katelyn quickly discovered how to navigate the screens and play with the kid-friendly apps. This gift came in especially helpful during the (looong) car ride to and through Iowa.
What a wonderful visit from Santa and such a joyful, special day as a family at home. The following morning, we loaded the car up and were Iowa-bound! Plenty to come on that...
