Mission Accomplished!

Okay, I'm gonna brag about Michael today. It's easy to do :) He would never make a big hoopla about this but as his wife, I am going to make a big hoopla on his behalf because this achievement is most certainly deserving of a big hoopla...

Michael has completed his Masters of Business Administration degree through Indiana University!

Do you remember this post? Two and a half years ago, Michael started the adventure of pursuing his MBA while holding a full-time job and raising a young family. After countless hours of reading, studying, paper-writing, conference calls, group projects, and exams, he has completed all of the coursework and finally has his Masters degree. Hooray!!

Since not many people knew that he was approaching graduation, I notified our family and friends asking them to send him a card or note of congratulations for the achievement. A couple weeks ago, Michael was surprised by homemade signs of congrats on the door (adorned with a multitude of Hello Kitty stickers, naturally), his favorite at-home dinner, a giant piece of his favorite cake, and special messages from friends and family across the country.

In Ames over Thanksgiving, we enjoyed a cake in his honor...

Katelyn was a big fan of the tasty treat, but she kept saying she didn't want "the bread" but just more of the frosting. Ha! Sounds like her corner-piece-loving mama!

We are so proud of our hard-working guy! It required tons of dedication - primarily during evenings and weekends - and he did an amazing job managing it along with the ongoing demands of life and work.

Finally, on Saturday night, we had plans for a date night to celebrate him being done with school. We lined up our favorite sitter for the girls (Kendall was asleep before we left) and went to our favorite Mexican restaurant... little did Michael know that our great friends Matt and Shelly would surprise him by joining us for dinner! Nothing says "mission accomplished" quite like jumbo margaritas ;)

Michael, you are incredible! Thank you for teaching all of us about the value of hard work, pursuing goals, and lifelong learning. We love you!

Michael, definitely a job well done! We'll never forget the time we were visiting you all in MN and you came downstairs in a sport coat and nice shirt along with shorts and no shoes to videotape a presentation for class (from the waist up, of course)! So funny! Congratulations!! We are so proud of you!!
