Kendall is One Month Old

As of yesterday, Kendall is now one month old. Yeah, yeah, I've said this a million times, but time is going so fast! And many people have told us that when you have a second child, somehow time goes even faster - not sure I'm ready for that! 

Kendall is doing awesome. She still spends a lot of her time sleeping, snuggling ♥, eating, and observing this relatively new world.

She's becoming more alert with each day. Over the last week, she's been smiling. We can't get enough of it! Usually the smiles sweep across her face after a few quiet moments studying our faces. She also grins at Katelyn - here's a picture of big sister tickling little sister and the resulting smile. Love it! Katelyn is so, so sweet with Kendall and loves being around her, helping me with her, and giving her little touches on her hands, feet, and head. (I'm thankful for this, because I was a little nervous about the jealousy factor.)

Kendall eats 7-8 times a day or about every 2.5 to 3 hours during the day and whenever she wakes overnight. She continues to snooze for anywhere between 4- and 7-hour stretches at night.

She loves to snuggle. She also gets most comfortable (and sleepy) when I'm holding her and walking around the house. She also likes her swing, but sometimes it takes a little while to get comfy in there. As you can imagine, the snuggles never get old. They're not little forever, so we are savoring these sweet snuggles while we can!

Kendall is a great baby - her disposition is much like Katelyn's was as a newborn: content and happy most of the time, but cries when it's time to eat or have her diaper changed. She is hot and cold with her pacifier - sometimes she takes it after a little coaxing and sometimes she resists it or gags on it. It was love at first sight for Katelyn.

We know she weighs at least 10 pounds, but I'm guessing she's up to 11 by now. Her cheeks and double-chin are the tell-tale signs of her weight gain!

Kendall is also starting to coo and discover that she has a little voice in there somewhere. It's almost like she catches herself by surprise when a sound comes out of her mouth!

We're having so much fun getting to know you, Kendall, and feel so blessed to have you in our family! The first month with you has been exhilarating and exhausting, heartwarming and happy, beautiful and at times a bit blurry ;) We are so thankful that you're here and love you so much!
