We had a really fun weekend which kicked off on Friday night with some friends coming over for dinner. My college roommate from freshman year (and sorority sister), Kelly and her family live just 10 blocks from us in Plymouth. Crazy, huh?! Kelly and Ben moved here from Atlanta last summer and their son, Miller, is just a month older than Katelyn. These monkeys were climbing all over the furniture and running laps around the main floor with the walker toys!
Katelyn loves this new table and chairs... (which, by the way, was $25 for all three pieces from a consignment store, thank you very much :) Despite our discouraging it, her favorite thing to do is to stand on the chair (or sit on the table - eek!) and say, "dow, dow, dow" since she knows that's what we say. Then she'll sit down and say, "thaaa you" taking the words right out of our mouth!
Here's an "action shot" of this standing business. (I wondered what I was doing when I first saw this picture, but I'm signing with my right hand "please" and asking Katelyn to "please sit down".)
Saturday morning, some more fun was in store with Gramma and Papa making their way to town. It was my dad's birthday that day, so we did a little driveway art as a warm welcome...
Katelyn helping Pops open his gifts.
And how about these curly girlies? (The humidity makes corkscrew curls for both of them!)
It was so hot that our trip to the park turned into a trip to the lake instead. (And one crazy fella - who shall remain nameless - actually jogged back to our house in the excessive heat warning. Nutso!)
We had to hike up that skirt so it didn't get wet! Makes me laugh :)
Katelyn is especially into airplanes lately. Here's some admiration of a couple...
Katelyn enjoyed watching the British Open with Papa...
Sunday called for some pool time to keep cool...
Every time Katelyn noticed a sprig of grass in the pool or (gasp!) on her leg, she'd pick it up and hand it to me saying, "owwie" with a disgusted face. Hmmm, I'm pretty sure none of the grass was thorny!
Even though it was hot, hot, hot, we had an enjoyable weekend. We keep thinking about the fact that we'd pay big bucks for days like these come February :)
