Halloween Weekend

Halloween takes on a whole new level of fun with Katelyn in da house! We had a great weekend dressing her up and celebrating her first Halloween! Here's our sweetie all decked out...

We called her our little petunia and she sure was tolerant of the massive petals framing her face! Malone, on the the other hand, was not so happy to be dressed up as a pumpkin... I'm pretty sure he hated every minute of being in costume, but he was still a trooper for a few photos. (For as big as he is, Malone is scared of everything... including dogs that are 1/20th of his size. This fear helped our cause for pictures because he wouldn't move an inch with the pumpkin costume strapped to his back. He was too scared! Don't worry, we didn't put him through it for too long.) Here are the Mlakar kids: our petunia and pumpkin.

Here they are looking outside plotting their escape from the crazy costume and camera lady!

On Saturday morning, we went to the Maple Grove Fall Festival on Main Street. It included trick-or-treating for the kids as well as some good shopping sales for the adults at the stores and restaurants in the area. We went there with our friends and neighbors, Ryan and Stacy and their little girl Reese. It was fun but really busy, so we spent most of the morning at cozy Dunn Brothers Coffee (perfect!)

Katelyn and Reese got lots of big smiles from people passing by :)

Trick or treat!!

Katelyn was the lucky recipient of some special Halloween cards and gifts - thanks Millirons, Great Grandpa Howard, Grandma Debbie, and Aunt Jennifer! It's amazing how the cards are sometimes more interesting to her than the books and toys. She spent several minutes scratching the front of the yellow greeting card from Grandma Debbie and Aunt Jen!

Since she couldn't eat any candy this year, we got her a few other treats to mark the occasion (and clearly, what says Happy Halloween better than an animal pop-up toy, new leg warmers, some onesies?!)

After all the treats, Katelyn pulled some tricks of her own and decided it would be fun to stand... yes, folks, STAND... on her own... for about 3 seconds!!

Look ma, no hands!!

And ka'boom on the buns! That was fun :)

Saturday night, we got together with our friends Matt and Shelly and their kids Dane and Erik. We always have a great time with them! Dane and Katelyn got along famously (last time, she was a little bit intimidated by him, but she apparently outgrew that). Here are some pictures of this darling duo:

Katelyn playing Frankenstein - how appropriate for Halloween :)

Smooching boys already? Oy. Aww, so sweet.

Hope you all had a great Halloween weekend! Happy November!

Katelyn, you were cutest little flower! It looks like you had a super Halloween with lots of nice "goodies." Standing on your own was just the icing on the cake. Way to go!!
